UPTET – BTC training is must for Private Teachers too

As per RTE rules; Most of us know that untrained teachers are not allowed up to upper primary level ( 8th Class ) in any school but as the number of these teachers is too large so they are provided some validity up to which they have to get trained from a recognized institute .

There is a arrangement of training for untrained ‘ Shiksha Mitra ‘ teachers in government and aided schools but it was not mandatory in private schools to train a teacher . And so a simple graduate & even 12th pass candidates have been retained by these schools as a teacher which is completely against the RTE guidelines now .

So the state government is planning to train them as per draft for ‘ Shiksha Mitra ‘ .State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has submitted proposals to the government ,regarding this .

Under this scheme; 2 years training will be given to those un-trained teachers who teach in private schools . Diploma in Elementary Education (DEE) certificate will be awarded by Department of Basic Education to the candidates who pass this training course .

  • There will be four semesters in this course .
  • Each semester will be of 6 months, hence the total duration of the course is 2 years .
  • Total 120 working days are there; academic counseling in 6 days, 6 day workshop, written exam preparation in 40 days, 10 days sessional work, lesson planning and teaching work 30 days, 15 days internships and 13 days to prepare for the exam. .

This is great news for private teachers; There are about 11,500+ private schools in the state and more than this, there is a long list of untrained teachers . How they are going to train them and when ? That’s the question to state government, what do you think about this ?
